Seeking the Creative: Hanna Hajda, Illustrator

How would you describe your art in three words?

Not exactly three words but: “good-and-bad vibes only.”

With only a few finely drawn lines and brief captions, Hanna Hajda’s doodles capture the full intensity of human emotion. Originally from the Upper Silesia region in Poland, the artist has been interested in drawing and doodling since 2012 and has recently graduated from the Architecture Department at the University of Liechtenstein. Hanna first started sharing her craft on social media in 2018 and works on her doodles daily as she enjoys spending her free moments with a pen and paper in hand. She gains that same joy through her Instagram account which she started without a specific agenda, and while she was surprised to see her audience grow, she is excited to see where her doodles will take her next.

Where/how do you gather inspiration?

From observations – of my own and other behaviours. From the new reality of omnipresent mental and physical isolation. From Rimbaud’s poems and Deerhunter’s songs.

What do you hope audiences retain from your work?

I hope to normalize sadness in a sense. I find comfort in sharing my emotions (often those, that are considered negative) and I hope that the audience can relate to it sometimes. Or that one can feel, that they’re not alone.
