How would you describe your art in three words?
Vibrant, distorted, emotional.
Meet passionate Oil Painter, Jessie Kirker. Jessie’s love for painting was born during her high school studio classes, where she became enamored with the process of creating. This experience led her to pursue a Studio Fine Arts major at college, where she focuses on oil painting. Her technical skills shine through in colorful paintings that play with forms and transparency – a product of hours of loving work in the studio. Enraptured by her field, Jessie hopes to pursue a career in the arts that would allow her to facilitate creative learning and create environments akin to those that first inspired her.
Where/how do you gather inspiration?
I gather inspiration from books, art shows, researching artists and learning about them and their influences. I also speak with my professors and other artists to gain inspiration from them.
What do you hope audiences retain from your work?
I hope that audiences are drawn into my paintings and are affected in an introspective way. I hope that my paintings can evoke an emotion or an interpretation from the audience that is specific to each viewer.
